For the first time, an NBA season game will take place in Germany in January. It won’t be an isolated case.
The world champions Franz and Moritz Wagner will get a home game, as the best basketball league in the world will hold a regular season game in Germany for the first time: As the NBA announced on Wednesday, Orlando Magic, featuring the Wagner brothers and their national teammate Tristan da Silva, will face the Memphis Grizzlies in Berlin’s Uber Arena on January 18, 2026. Three days later, both franchises will meet again in London.
“The fact that the Orlando Magic and the NBA are playing a regular season game in our hometown of Berlin means everything to us,” the Wagner brothers were quoted as saying in the North American professional league’s statement: “Growing up here, we dreamed of moments like these. It’s a great honor to represent Berlin and Germany and show how much the city and country love basketball. We hope that we can inspire children just as we did when we watched games from afar.”

The NBA also announced that it will host regular season games in Manchester and Paris in 2027, and again in Berlin and Paris in 2028. The dates and participating teams for the 2027 and 2028 games will be announced before the start of the 2026/27 and 2027/28 NBA seasons, respectively.
NBA games in Europe have been a tradition for several years, with the first taking place in London in 2011 between the Toronto Raptors and the New Jersey Nets (now the Brooklyn Nets).
