Biathlon dominator admits: “I cheated something!”

Biathlon Olympic champion Laura Dahlmeier died in a salvage accident. The sympathy from the sports world is huge.

Biathlon dominator Sturla Holm Laegreid is preparing for the new season – and according to his own statement, he is cheating.

Things could hardly be better for Sturla Holm Laegreid. Last winter he dominated biathlon and won not only the overall World Cup but also the small crystal globes for winning the pursuit, mass start and individual. Only in the sprint was he beaten by Johannes Thingnes Bö.

Now Laegreid is preparing for the new season – and according to his own statement, he is cheating. Because the Norwegian wants to improve his shooting and therefore watched his compatriot Martin Uldal during his training.

He is known for extremely fast shooting and even managed 12.9 seconds in Hochfilzen.

Laegreid admitted in an interview with Dagbladet that he had “cheated a little” when he had “observed” intensively.

But he also wants to be able to act like Uldal soon, because that is “the future.” Laegreid therefore also wants to adapt his weapon. Above all, the front part of the rifle should be redesigned.

“I shot well this winter, but I still feel like I don’t master shooting in the wind. I’m afraid of the wind at the Olympics – that would mean I’m poorly prepared,” Laegreid said openly.

He is now trying to “spend time finding an optimal position and setup that actually work in the wind.”
