Arne Slot speaks publicly for the first time about Luis Díaz’s departure to FC Bayern. The Liverpool coach is pleased about a lucrative deal.
Arne Slot has expressed mixed feelings about the departure of Luis Díaz. The Liverpool coach described the Colombian’s move to FC Bayern, among other things, as a “great deal.”
It is “always disappointing to see someone like that go, to a certain point,” Slot initially said at a press conference: “Luis is a player with whom we won the league, and there is a reason why we won it with him: He is a very good player.”

On the other hand, they sold the 28-year-old “for a lot of money.” It is part of the strategy to sign “incredible” players – but from time to time you also have to sell.
Slot is pleased with the profit-making deal with Díaz
“I think we did a great deal by bringing Lucho here for a few years and then selling him for a very good profit.” He will remember Díaz – who came from FC Porto in 2022 for 49 million euros – as a cheerful character and champion.
Slot is not worried about his squad after the departure. When players like Díaz or Trent Alexander-Arnold (who moved to Real Madrid) leave, you always have to “replace them with quality.”
And Liverpool has succeeded in doing so: “At the moment we still have Cody Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha is showing very good approaches and I think Florian Wirtz can also play on the left. As far as quality is concerned, we have already arrived at the right place.”
