The mural of Lamine Yamal in Barcelona has been deliberately altered. A new painting on the work is causing discussions – and raises questions about the background of the action.
The mural of Lamine Yamal in Barcelona has been deliberately altered. Another artist has painted over the work, which was created just a few weeks ago for the young Barça star’s 18th birthday.
The mural, originally created by street artist TV Boy, is located on Plaza Joanic. It shows Yamal in a Superman suit with a large red “L” on his chest, based on the iconic Superman “S”.
Controversial motif supplemented with the seven dwarfs
As the journalist Edu Polo reported, the seven dwarfs from the fairy tale Snow White were painted on the mural. This addition refers to Lamine Yamal’s birthday party, where several small people were allegedly booked for entertainment purposes.
“A ‘joker’ has destroyed the mural of Lamine Yamal in Joanic… This time it is neither a fake nor an AI montage. I just took the photo,” Polo explained about the changed depiction.
The artist Shredder, also active in the Barcelona street art scene, made the changes to the mural and left his signature. The mural thus did not remain intact for four weeks.
Background: Yamal’s birthday party causes controversy
The addition of the seven dwarfs refers to the controversial birthday party of Lamine Yamal. According to reports, several small people were hired there, which had triggered criticism in the public and the media.
The mural, which TV Boy created in honor of Yamal’s 18th birthday, is now part of a debate about the recent events surrounding the young Barça player.
