Poland legend: Lewandowski a “Klotz on the leg”!

Alonso heats real stars in training

Robert Lewandowski is facing his final year of contract with FC Barcelona – ironically, a Polish legend is now advising him to leave. Jan Tomaszewski speaks plainly and recommends a move to Saudi Arabia.

Polish goalkeeper legend Jan Tomaszewski has publicly advised Robert Lewandowski to leave FC Barcelona and move to Saudi Arabia.

The 77-year-old warned in an interview on the YouTube channel Super Express Sport that Lewandowski would only be used as a substitute in the upcoming season.

Only a Substitute Player?

Tomaszewski spoke clearly about the sporting future of his compatriot: “Robert should now end his career in Barcelona and move to a less demanding club in Saudi Arabia, as the best footballers in the world have done.”

The former national goalkeeper, who himself completed 63 international matches for Poland, is convinced that the 36-year-old Lewandowski can no longer keep up at the highest level: “Let’s be honest. It’s the end. Robert is not very popular in the team. The top players don’t pass to him.”

“He must realize that he will be a substitute this season and will be used against tired opponents. The eyes want to, the brain wants to, but the heart doesn’t allow it,” said Tomaszewski, who finished third with Poland at the 1974 World Cup.

Saudi Clubs Show Interest

Not only from a sporting perspective, but also financially, a move would make sense from the goalkeeper’s point of view – both for the player and the club. “Robert has the biggest contract, and that is a burden for Barcelona. In the event of his departure, an incredible amount of money would be released.”

In fact, Spanish media such as Mundo Deportivo report that several clubs from Saudi Arabia are seriously interested in Lewandowski. However, the striker has not decided on a move – he and his family feel comfortable in Catalonia, it is said from his environment.

The Polish National Team Could Also Benefit

For Tomaszewski, a move to Saudi Arabia would also have positive consequences for the Polish national team. Less strain in club football could help Lewandowski find his best form there again. First, however, he would have to become part of the team again. After the change of coach, however, this seems possible again.

“If Robert moved to Saudi Arabia, he would have a much better position in the Polish national team. Why? Because not every game would cost him so much strength,” explained Tomaszewski.

His Numbers Speak a Different Language

But a look at Lewandowski’s past season shows that the striker is still performing. In 52 competitive games for FC Barcelona, he was in the starting eleven 51 times and scored 42 goals – including 34 appearances in the league alone. Arguments that do not necessarily speak for a role as a substitute player.

His contract with the Catalans runs until 2026. In addition, the employment contract contains an option for another year.
