Lisa Vittozzi had to sit out the entire past biathlon season. During the pre-season preparation, she received support from Franziska Preuß, for which she is now grateful.
Due to persistent back problems, Lisa Vittozzi missed the past biathlon season. However, she is now back in training. She plans to participate in the Italian Championships at the end of August.
Overall, training is going well. “I’m doing well, the recovery is going smoothly, and so is the training. I see progress every week, so I’m happy,” she said in an interview with the International Biathlon Union.
Lisa Vittozzi and Franziska Preuß trained together in the pre-season preparation
During the pre-season preparation, she spent a lot of time with Franziska Preuß. “In Ruhpolding, I trained with Franzi, who was super flexible. We had fun and it was really nice,” the biathlete raved about Preuß.
Biathlon: Preuß? “That really meant a lot to me”
She found it particularly nice: “She also wrote to me several times in the winter to ask how I was doing, and that really meant a lot to me.”
Because that is not a given among colleagues in professional sports. “Sport is very competitive and usually there are not many empathetic people in it, but she definitely was towards me, and I really felt that,” continued the overall World Cup winner of 2023/24.
For the next season, the Olympic Games are her main goal. “If they take place in your own country, that motivates you even more to give everything,” says the Italian.
