The former four-hill tourist winner Horst Queck died at the age of 81.

The four-time GDR champion in ski jumping died on September 20, as the Thuringian Ski Association and Queck’s Heimatverein SC Motor Zella-Mehlis confirmed to the SID .

Queck won four -hill tour without a day victory

In the winter of 1969/70, Queck managed the feat of winning the tour without winning a day’s victory.

His consistency in Oberstdorf (2nd), Garmisch-Partenkirchen (10th), Innsbruck (2nd) and Bischofshofen (4th) brought him first in the overall ranking.

For the Norwegians it would have been the fourth tour triumph in a row. In Innsbruck, the ski jump record improved to 99.0 m, only five years later it was broken.

In February 1970, Queck became a double GDR champion, but then fell heavily at a ski flight competition in Oberstdorf. In 1971 he ended his career and later became a selection coach of the GDR.
