“Could you please take a souvenir photo for me?” Humphries Asked the Sport1 Reporter on a Viewing Platform. Above Him, A Sign: “Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe”. Darts at Unusual Heights

In an interview with Sport1 , Humphries Revealed How His Games Changes at Such Altitude, in which discipline he would compete at the winter Olympics – and what he thinks of the development of German darts.

Sport1: Mr. Humphries, Are You Cold?

Luke Humphries: Well, I have a red nose. I’m the red-nosed Reindeer.

Sport1: Luke, “The Red-Nosed Reindeer.” Your new darts nickname?

Humphries: Ahh, no Thanks you! I’m rather Stick with Mine (Laughs).

Sport1: “Cool Hand” is at least as good. How are you experience the Jungfraujoch?

Humphries: It’s very cool up here. You Walk Up a Few Steps, Your Breathing Gets Heavier and You Feel A Little Dizzy. To Experience I’ve Never Had Before. The Snow, The Mountains, Riding Up Here On The Mountain Railway: It’s great that we get to experience this as dart players. I wants to remember this for a long, long time. And to play darts here is real something something …

This sport would humphries do at the winter Olympics

Sport1: Have you ever been so high above Sea level in your life?

Humphries: I’ve Never Been above 1500 meters, I think. A Completely New Experience.

Sport1: Since we’ve already arrived in winter: The Olympic Games Will Take Place in Milan & Cortina d’Ampezzo in February 2026. In which sport would you particular?

Humphries: Is there a target sport? Curling, that’s what i’ll do! I’ll be the one pushing the stones (Laughs).

Sport1: Speaking of Targets: What Changes When Playing Darts at Search to Altitude?

Humphries: It’s not that you can’t focus at all and can’t See the board, but the dizzness is there being. The Body Feels Weaker – And of Course, so Freezing Cold. But i Still Threw a 180, so I’m satisfied with my performance up here.

Humphries: “I’m feeling very good right now”

Sport1: Let’s talk about your performance on stage: How Are You in Shape?

Humphries: I’m feeling very good right now. I had a Slight Dip After Winning the Premier League, but Now I’m Training More Again and Consistently Delivering My Performanances Week After Week. Last Week in Budapest, I Played the Highest European Tour Average This Year With 113.05 Points. And then I Lost Against Niko Springer, Who Played on 11-Darter in Each of the Last Two Legs …

Sport1: How Did You Experience The Match Against Niko Springer?

Humphries: It was about exciting match, i made the big mistake and free the first Two legs. OtherWise, The Game Wood Probably Have Turned Out Differently. But darts is a game of Mistakes, that’s what makes it so interesting. And about Niko: He’s a Fantastic Player, A Super Scorer. The Only Thing I’ve Seen Him Fail at is the Doubles in the Decisive Moments. But Victories like this will HopeFully Give Him the Confidence to Believe in Himelf more in the Decisive Moments.

This is How Humphries Sees German Darts

Sport1: Niko Springer is the Fourth German in History to Win a European Tour Event. Max Hopp Says About Him that He is the player with the greatest potential in Germany. Could you agree with him?

Humphries: Yes, why not? His throw is, as I would say, Pretty Robotic. Very fluid, the same throw every time. He throws a bit like me. I See the potential in Him, but i wouldn’t write off martin Schindler. Hey achieved more than a German so far. You have to pay him the respect, he is the best German. But who know how long that will be.

Sport1: How do you see German Darts in General Right Now?

Humphries: Better than Ever Before! There have been some good German players Over the Years, but Now there are A FEW Who Are Surpassing That Again. If you had Martin Schindler and Niko Springer as a duo at the world cup, for example, that would be a real dangerous encounter, to be honest. That Could Happen Next Year. So definitely a team to watch out for.

Sport1: There’s Still some time until then. What goals do you have for the rest of 2025? We still have Four Major Touraments to Play.

Humphries: My goal is to win as many Majors as i can. I’m not going to stand here and say, ‘Oh, i’d like to win one.’ I want to win all four! But that’s of course at Optimistic Undertaking. I Feel Like I Want to Win at Least One – And Then of Course the World Championship! Because I Know: If I Win the World Championship, I Will Remain Number One In The World. If not, that i won’t be anymore. It’s a simple requirement – and a simple solution: win the world championship and stay number one in the world. Many people say that a lot of pressure, but i’m taking it pretty easy. I had Two Great Years as Number One In The World – And Now It’s Up To Me to Play the Tournament of My Life to Stay there as well.
