The previous name ECA is being changed. This is also intended as a sign of the change in strategy.
The European football clubs will in future operate under the name European Football Clubs (EFC) in their joint organization. This name change was made public by the organization, previously known as the European Club Association (ECA), at the annual General Assembly in Rome. European Football Clubs has more than 800 members from 55 nations, with both men’s and women’s clubs of various sizes being part of EFC.
“We have put ‘Football Clubs’ and the three most important letters – ‘EFC’ – at the heart of our name to communicate more clearly who we are and what we stand for,” said EFC Chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi: “However, this is much more than just a renaming – it shows that we are always thinking differently and pushing boundaries to become even better.” We will “never stop advocating for the common interests of all our members and the development of club football as a whole.”
