“I don’t think it’s a pleasant situation,” said the Pole, reporting that he had experienced something similar during his time at Juventus Turin. At that time, he briefly ended his career – but then came back.
“I wouldn’t advise Marc to do the same, because he still has so much to offer football, but I think that sometimes in your profession you have to accept that some decisions are detrimental to you,” Szczesny continued.
Szczesny can understand Barca’s decision
The 35-year-old pointed out that with the signing of goalkeeper Joan García, who is also currently injured, the club has brought in a goalkeeper who is a world-class talent and could play for Barca for the next 15 years.
“That must have been frustrating for him after being an important player for so many years, but Marc is an intelligent person who understands something like that,” Szczesny said regarding ter Stegen, who had been the number one for years and had captained the Catalans.

The Polish keeper revealed that he spoke a lot with ter Stegen in the summer. “The most important thing for him now is to get fit again, because he missed almost the entire last season,” said Szczesny.
