Darts: Luke Littler overwhelms the defending champion – and sets a highlight at the end!

Luke Littler continues to show strong form at the World Grand Prix. In the round of 16, he eliminates the defending champion.

Luke Littler is in the quarter-finals of the World Grand Prix! After his amazing show at the start against Gian van Veen, Mike de Decker also didn’t give him any problems.

The Englishman won the round of 16 of the Double-In-Double-Out tournament against the defending champion with a straight 3:0 in sets.

Against the Belgian, “The Nuke” showed a commanding performance and played 91.86 points on average. Paired with a double rate of 39 percent, the world champion proved to be too strong.

Big fish to match

Due to the significantly better average, De Decker played only 74.22 points on average in comparison, Littler earned himself significantly more opportunities (23) on the doubles. De Decker only used two of his six attempts.

In the end, Littler showed the audience his whole class and provided a real highlight: He finished the match with the “Big-Fish” (170 finish).

In the quarter-finals, Littler will now meet former world champion Gerwyn Price, who surprisingly defeated Josh Rock 3-0 at the end of the session.

Before Littler, Dirk van Duijvenbode (3:0 against Daryl Gurney) and Jonny Clayton (3:1 against Luke Woodhouse) had already entered the round of the last eight on Thursday evening.
