The dream final between Luke Humphries and Luke Littler is set. While Humphries briefly faltered in his semifinal, Littler won convincingly.
The World Grand Prix of Darts will feature a dream final between Luke Humphries and Luke Littler.
In the first semifinal of the evening, Humphries, the number 1 in the PDC Order of Merit, defeated Dutchman Danny Noppert 5-3 in sets.
Humphries looked like the sure winner at 4-1 in sets, but Noppert fought back to 3-4 before Humphries played strongly in the eighth set to secure the match.
“Cool Hand Luke” achieved a three-dart average of 93.46 points, while “The Freeze” had 87.71 points. Humphries threw a total of 14 maximums, Noppert ten.
Littler couldn’t be stopped
Littler managed his semifinal more convincingly. He gave Welshman Jonny Clayton little chance in the 5-1 sets victory.
Littler made the decisive move in the fourth set when he checked 140 points in the decider to take a 3-1 lead in sets. Clayton was left on 32 points and had to watch as Littler created a real highlight with the high finish and then roared with joy.
“The Nuke” played a three-dart average of 97.26 points, while “The Ferret” was defeated with 91.13 points.
This is already the fifth major final in which Littler and Humphries face each other. In August, Littler came out on top at the New Zealand Darts Masters, winning 8-4 in legs. In May, Humphries won the final in the Premier League (11-8 in legs).
