Controversy around darts professional Tim Pusey! The Australian has to change his nickname for the 2026 Darts World Championship (starting December 11th LIVE on SPORT1 ).

It is “The Magnet” and, combined with his last name (“The Puseymagnet”), forms a cheeky constellation. This apparently crosses a line for the PDC association.

Darts professional looks forward to the fans at Ally Pally

Pusey explained laughing in an interview with Tungsten Tales : “I don’t have any of that on my jersey. I have to come up with a new name, maybe we need to start a survey and think of something.”

The 33-year-old, who will be participating in the World Championship for the first time, showed some understanding for the association’s decision because he knows how enthusiastic and “colorful” the darts fans at the legendary Alexandra Palace can be. He is looking forward to his appearance in December.

In the past, fans at a tournament in which Pusey participated sang: “Oh Pusey, we love you.”

PDC has banned a nickname before

This is not the first time the PDC has taken a hard stance against a cheeky name.

In 2023, Owen Bates, world number 80, was prohibited from using the nickname “The Master” because it was too provocative when combined with his real name (“Owen Masturbates”).
