Darts action live on SPORT1! The second day of the European Championship is on the program – and a German duo is fighting for the second round.
On the second day of the European Championship in Dortmund, there is more darts action. After the start on Thursday, the two German professionals Niko Springer and Ricardo Pietreczko are in action on Friday.
Right at the beginning (around 7 PM), Springer faces the Dutchman Jermaine Wattimena. Of the four previous duels, Springer has managed to win three.
Around 8:30 PM, Pietreczko meets the Northern Irishman Josh Rock. In three matches, “Pikachu” had to admit defeat twice against the number nine of the Order of Merit.
Superstars like the Englishman Luke Littler, his compatriot Luke Humphries, and Michael van Gerwen are also in Dortmund.
Littler can become the world number one for the first time. To do this, “The Nuke” must at least reach the semifinals and Humphries must be eliminated early. The two dominators could meet in the quarterfinals.
Littler has to face Raymond van Barneveld in the opening match, while Humphries meets the Pole Krzysztof Ratajski.
The tournament takes place from October 23 to 26 in Dortmund’s Westfalenhalle. The top 32 players of the European Tour, listed in the European Tour Order of Merit, are participating.
So it’s only unofficially the “European Championship” since players from other continents are also allowed. In 2012, Australian Simon Whitlock won the major.
