Niko Springer had to admit defeat to Jermaine Wattimena

The European Championship has ended prematurely for Niko Springer. The German had to concede defeat to a strong Jermaine Wattimena.

Early exit for Niko Springer! The “Meenzer Bub” lost his opening match at the European Darts Championship (LIVE on SPORT1 ) against Jermaine Wattimena 3-6 in legs.

The victorious Dutchman presented himself in outstanding form and achieved a three-dart average of 106.87 points – the second highest value of the tournament so far. Springer achieved a solid 94.91 points per turn, but was ultimately defeated by the strongly playing Wattimena. Meanwhile, “The Machine Gun” even played over 120 points in average.

Wattimena started furiously and quickly took a 3-0 lead. Springer managed to reduce to 1-3 and after another leg win by Wattimena even came to 3-4. At 3-4, Springer then missed four darts at double-16 on his own throw and Wattimena managed the preliminary decision with the break to 5-3.

“The Machine Gun” didn’t let anything go wrong in the ninth leg and made the victory perfect with his second match dart.

Later in the evening, from a German perspective, Ricardo Pietreczko will face Josh Rock. The winner of the duel will meet Wattimena on Saturday.
