Alpine skiing: “He will probably remain limited there for the rest of his life”

Nearly two years ago, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde crashed and was seriously injured. Now his fiancée Mikaela Shiffrin has provided an update.

The alpine ski season has begun with the glacier giant slalom in Sölden. Around the traditional season start, record World Cup winner Mikaela Shiffrin gave an update about her fiancé Aleksander Aamodt Kilde.

“He’s doing incredibly well,” stated Shiffrin in a press conversation with FIS President Johan Eliasch: “But it’s also a very long road for him.”

Thus, the return to racing is “initially just as much a return to life.” Accordingly, Kilde still has to deal with complaints: “He has limitations in his shoulder. He will likely remain limited there for the rest of his life.”

Kilde motivates Shiffrin

Nevertheless, the 33-year-old is full of motivation and physically very strong again. Kilde is currently working towards a comeback for the first downhill race of the year in Beaver Creek. A countdown to the big day is running on his Instagram account.

“His work toward the comeback inspires me every day. We all love seeing him ski, so I really hope it works out,” Shiffrin continued.

The American started the new season with a fourth place on Saturday.
