After leaving FC Bayern, Paul Wanner was finally supposed to take off. However, his development has stagnated. Now his coach Peter Bosz comments on the talent.
After his move from FC Bayern to PSV Eindhoven, the hoped-for breakthrough for Paul Wanner is still pending. In the Eredivisie, he has played 98 minutes across four matches, while in the Champions League it’s only 18 minutes of playing time in two games.
His coach Peter Bosz also admits that the development isn’t progressing as quickly as Wanner himself probably expected. “It’s certainly going slower than he had hoped,” said the 61-year-old to the Dutch broadcaster NOS .
However, the former coach of Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen also defended Wanner: “I know we’re talking about a young man who comes from abroad and first has to adapt. That’s not bad at all – and by the way, he’s doing it excellently.”

Bosz: “Trying to talk to him about it”
That players immediately make an impact is rarer anyway: “I try to convey to him that this is completely normal.” Bosz is trying everything to get Wanner on track.
“I try to talk to him about it, so I sit down with him every week. He wants to know from me what he needs to do differently or better,” said the Dutchman.
However, Bosz didn’t want to reveal exactly what he told the 19-year-old Wanner in response. For him, it’s only important that all players “have the feeling that they have the prospect of making it into the starting lineup at some point.”
Bayern “still has access” to Wanner
Talent Wanner moved from Munich to Eindhoven in the summer for a reported transfer fee of 15 million euros. However, Bayern secured a buy-back clause.
“We still have access to the player. So he’s not completely gone,” said Bayern’s sports director Max Eberl at the time.
