Drama in double overtime: The Würzburg Baskets return to the Basketball Bundesliga.

Back on track: The Würzburg Baskets from the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) have celebrated a success after three defeats in a row.

The team of coach Sasa Filipovski defeated promoted Science City Jena after double overtime with 97:92 (74:74, 38:41) and thus keeps up with the top of the table. With the fifth victory in the sixth league game, Würzburg moved past Trier to second place, with Syntainics MBC still leading the way with a flawless record.

The series of defeats in the league, Champions League and Cup within seven days was noticeable to Würzburg in front of a home crowd. Against strong away guests from Jena, the Lower Franconians fought until half-time.

In the third quarter (22:14), point guard Marcus Carr in particular turned up. Jena, however, did not give up and demanded everything from Würzburg in two extensions. There, Würzburg – led by the outstanding Carr – proved to have the stronger nerves.

The Canadian was man of the match and the top scorer for the hosts with 37 points. Tavian Dunn-Martin (20 points) scored best for Jena.
