The Darts World Championship is casting its shadow ahead. But before the most important tournament of the year (live on SPORT1 from December 11) starts, the Grand Slam is on the agenda. SPORT1 will be broadcasting the major tournament live on free-to-air TV and stream for the next nine days from Saturday.
With Martin Schindler, Niko Springer and Lukas Wenig, three German darts players have qualified for the event. The defending champion is 18-year-old Luke Littler, who was able to defeat surprise finalist Martin Lukeman 16:3 in the final last year.

Luke Littler is the title defender of the Grand Slam of Darts
Little will face Danny Noppert in his first group game on Saturday at 2 PM. On the following days, the German will then play against Jonny Clayton and Cam Crabtree.
His two compatriots will then follow in the evening session. Schindler will duel with Luke Woodhouse at 8.30 PM. He will then face Stephen Bunting and Alexis Toylo in his group.
Springer has drawn a tough group. He will first face legend Gary Anderson (approx. 9.30 PM) before the matches against Michael van Gerwen and Beau Greaves.
Grand Slam: Mode and Schedule
32 players take part in the Grand Slam of Darts, who are initially divided into eight groups of four. Only the two best from each group advance to the knockout phase. In the group stage, “Best of 9 Legs” is played.
The round of 16 will then be played on Wednesday and Thursday in “Best of 19 Legs” mode. The quarter-finals (“Best of 31 Legs”) will then be held on Friday and Saturday, before the semi-finals (“Best of 31 Legs”) follow on Sunday afternoon. The final will take place on Sunday evening. The winner must win 16 legs (“Best of 31 Legs”).
