Big fuss over Galatasaray bankruptcy!

Victor Osimhen and Galatasaray are angry about a referee's decision

Galatasaray suffers their first defeat in the Süper Lig – with Leroy Sané’s team even briefly celebrating before the end.

Galatasaray Istanbul and German national player Leroy Sané have suffered their first defeat of the season in the Turkish Süper Lig. The 0-1 loss to Kocaelispor was overshadowed by several controversial refereeing decisions.

In particular, a disallowed goal by Victor Osimhen in the 83rd minute caused a stir: “A position that will be much talked about,” headlined the portal Fanatik . This referred to the positions of Galatasaray’s Gabriel Sara and opponent Anfernee Dijksteel.

A screenshot was shared in various Turkish media outlets, suggesting that Dijksteel was actually closer to the goal when Osimhen shot from close range. The referee had even watched the situation himself on the screen after an intervention by the referee – and decided on offside.

Osimhen has his hands in the opponent’s face

Another scene involving Osimhen also caused a stir. The striker wiped both hands across the face of his opponent Hrvoje Smolic after a challenge, as he wanted to push him away.

However, there was no possible sending off. Many fans on social media sensed a scandal.

Leroy Sané was in the starting eleven against Kocaelispor, but remained largely pale.
