For former Bundesliga player Noa Essengue, his debut season in the North American professional basketball league NBA has ended prematurely. As the Chicago Bulls announced, the 18-year-old Frenchman needs shoulder surgery.

Essengue played for ratiopharm Ulm in the BBL from 2023 to 2025 and reached the DM final with the club last season. Before the end of the final series, however, Essengue left Ulm to attend the draft. There he was selected in the first round in twelfth place.

Essengue has only played two NBA games for the Bulls so far, with a total of six minutes of playing time, and has not scored a point.
