Four Hills Tournament: Oberstdorf victory does not have to be a good omen

Exciting statistic: The opening victory at the Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf does not have to be a good omen.

For the Slovenian ski jumper Domen Prevc, the dominant opening victory at the Four Hills Tournament on Monday doesn’t necessarily have to be a good omen. Since 2000/01, only twelve out of 25 Oberstdorf winners have also claimed the overall title. Last year, Austria’s Stefan Kraft only finished third.

The statistic is particularly sobering for German jumpers: Of the eleven Oberstdorf winners since 1992, ultimately only Sven Hannawald in 2001/02 secured the overall classification.
