The German biathlon women around Franziska Preuß are aiming for a good result in the relay race on Saturday at the World Cup in Oberhof. After a disappointing eleventh place at the World Cup opener in Östersund, the German quartet landed on the podium in Hochfilzen. In Thursday’s sprint, Preuß’s form curve continued to improve. The relay starts at 2:25 PM.
Biathlon: Voigt missing from the relay – what’s behind it
Vanessa Voigt, currently the best German in the overall World Cup in 17th place, will not be competing in the relay. “Due to the absences in Hochfilzen, we want to try something out in Oberhof,” said sports director Felix Bitterling. “Current form and the number of races play an important role here. Vanessa Voigt’s non-nomination may be surprising, but it has no critical background. She is firmly planned for the relay in Ruhpolding.” The French women, led by overall World Cup leader Lou Jeanmonnot, are entering the race as top favorites.
