The German biathletes want to bid farewell to the home World Cup in Oberhof with a podium finish. However, a DSV ace is out.
With third place in the women’s relay and second place by Philipp Nawrath in the sprint, the German biathlon team was already able to give its fans two podium finishes at the home World Cup in Oberhof. At least one more is expected on the last day of the World Cup weekend.
Before the women’s pursuit (from 2:30 PM in the LIVETICKER), the men’s relay (from 11 AM in the LIVETICKER) is scheduled. Justus Strelow, Lucas Fratzscher, Philipp Nawrath, and David Zobel will form the German quartet.

A duel between Norway and France is emerging. The Norwegians will compete with the lineup Frey/Dale-Skjevdal/Uldal/Christiansen. The challengers from France will start with Fabien Claude, Emilien Jacquelin, Quentin Fillon Maillet, and Eric Perrot.
Sweden (Nelin/Stefansson/Ponsiluoma/Samuelsson) and Italy also have outsider chances for victory; Italy can rely on Tomasso Giacomel as a trump card in fourth position. The 25-year-old won both the sprint and the curious pursuit in Oberhof.
Biathlon World Cup Oberhof: Germany without Horn
The German team has to do without Philipp Horn. The 31-year-old has been suffering from illness symptoms since Friday and, according to a DSV statement, is “not fit to compete.” Horn will be replaced by Fratzscher, who will run in second position after super shooter Strelow.
Germany’s currently best athlete, Philipp Nawrath, will follow in third position, before David Zobel will complete the race. A lot has to go right for the German quartet if they want to reach the podium. However, they are certainly among the contenders.
