“Absolute madness!” Impressive prevc show despite a strange glitch

Domen Prevc flies to a dominant victory in Sapporo. However, not everything was correctly stowed with the Slovenian’s equipment.

Domen Prevc underscored his dominance at the Ski Jumping World Cup in Sapporo – and how! The Slovenian outclassed the competition with a 22.1-point lead.

In the second round, he made the best jump of the day with a flight of 141 meters, improving from second to first place. After the first round, Austrian Jan Hörl had been in the lead, ultimately finishing fourth.

“Absolute madness,” reacted Eurosport expert Werner Schuster enthusiastically to Prevc’s winning jump, which sealed his eighth seasonal success. “That was a jump where he made everyone else look old,” added the former national coach.

Equipment Malfunction for Prevc in Sapporo

Prevc had already won the Four Hills Tournament in a dominant fashion. In the first of two jumps in Sapporo, he now prevailed even despite an equipment problem.

As he glided through the air, a black plastic strap came loose on the Slovenian’s right foot. “Something was fluttering on his right leg – normally nothing flutters on ski jumpers,” Schuster stated immediately afterward.

After viewing the slow motion, it was clearly visible: “A plastic buckle broke, that must have happened during the flight – a sensational performance,” Schuster reacted.

Prevc may not have fastened the binding properly, or he suffered equipment damage. In any case, it did not hinder his impressive victory.
