For Robin Gosens, the dream of a third cup victory in Italy ended prematurely. The 24-time national player was eliminated in the round of 16 with AC Fiorentina against league rival Como 1907 with a score of 1:3 (1:1).
Roberto Piccoli (7th minute) gave Fiorentina the lead. But Sergi Roberto (20th), Nico Paz (60th) and Álvaro Morata (90th+1) turned the game around.

Gosens was substituted in during the 66th minute. The 31-year-old had won the Coppa in 2022 and 2023 with Inter Milan. For Como, coached by Cesc Fàbregas, Nicolas Kühn played the full match, providing the assist for Morata’s goal. Marc-Oliver Kempf remained on the bench for 90 minutes.
In the league, Fiorentina has somewhat recovered after a sobering start to the season. With 17 points from 22 games, Gosens’ team occupies 18th place; 17th place, and thus safety from relegation, is only one point away. Como is sixth.
