Ski superstar Lindsey Vonn reports back after her crash in Crans-Montana. The 41-year-old wants to continue fighting for the Olympics.
Speed Queen Lindsey Vonn has not yet given up hope of participating in the Olympics after her severe crash during the downhill race in Crans-Montana.
“This is a very bitter result, so close to the Olympic Games. But if there’s one thing I can do, it’s come back. My Olympic dream is not over yet,” the US ski racer wrote on Instagram a few hours after the crash.
After the first jump, Vonn lost her balance, fell backward, and eventually crashed into the safety netting.
Olympics: Vonn wants to consult with doctors
“I injured my left knee. I am discussing the situation with my doctors and my team and will undergo further examinations,” she continued: “I will provide more information as soon as I have it.”
Vonn initially lay in the snow, breathing heavily, but soon got up. After a few minutes of treatment, she was able to ski down the slope independently. However, she stopped several times along the way, holding her left knee. The partial prosthesis that enabled her successful comeback is on her right side.

At the finish line, Vonn waved to the crowd and disappeared into the examination tent. The race was canceled after her due to poor visibility and increasing snowfall.
Before Vonn, who started with bib number six on the demanding “Mont Lachaux” slope, two other athletes had already crashed.
