Biathlon: Prussia disappointed and lost points

Franziska Preuss

The 30-year-old is only 15 in the sprint. Lou JeanMonnot moves closer to the overall World Cup. Ingrid Landmark Tangrevold wins.

Biathlete Franziska Preuß clearly missed her eleventh podium placement of the winter and lost valuable points in the fight for the overall World Cup. The 30-year-old took only a disappointing 15th place in Nove Mesto’s sprint and landed eleven ranks behind her great competitor Lou JeanMonnot.

The Frenchwoman was able to shorten her gap to Preuss from 92 to 68 points. There are still six individual races on the World Cup. Already on Saturday (5.40 p.m./ARD and Eurosport) in Nove Mesto with the persecution of over 10 km.

“I am already disappointed. Even with zero I would have had no chance. It was the worm in it. The one mistake annoys me. I started thinking. I didn’t feel that bad, but still collected,” said Preuss in the ARD.

In the surprising victory of Ingrid Landmark Tankrevold, Selina Grotian was the best athlete of the German Ski Association (DSV) in the race over 7.5 km after a shooting error (+47.2). Prussia, which had shone with four medals at the World Cup in Lenzerheide, also made a mistake in the last shot and was 54.1 seconds behind Tandrevold. It was her third -tissue test in the 15th race of the winter.

The Norwegian Tangrevold, who had failed for some time due to an intervention this winter, triumphed after flawless performance in front of sprint world champion Justine Braisaz-Bouchet (1/+15.1) and Julia Simon (0/+20.9/both France). Jeamnnot (1/+27.1) followed as fourth.

First on Saturday (2:55 p.m.), the persecution of the men over 12.5 km is on the program. After the new disappointment in the sprint, the prospects for the DSV team in the second race under the new national coach Tobias Reiter are modest. Justus Strelow was 19th with over a minute behind the best German biathlete.

The World Cup in Nove Mesto will be completed on Sunday with the seasons. At the end of the season, the stations on the Pokljuka (13th to 16th March) and at the Holmenkollen in Oslo (21 to March 23)) follow.
