After the late team doctor Carles Miñarro Garcia from FC Barcelona, football goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen also mourned. “I lack the words,” wrote the injured captain of the league leader on X.
“I send your family and friends all my strength and support. Quiet in peace. We will miss you very much and always carry you in our hearts, Carles, ”wrote Ter Stegen.
On Saturday evening, Barcelona had announced that the 40 -year -old Miñarro Garcia had died a few hours earlier. The league game against CA Osasuna scheduled for 9 p.m. was canceled.
As a result, there was a wave of sympathy. Barcelona expressed his “deepest sympathy” and announced that the family “in this difficult time” was helped. The archrival Real Madrid conducted: “May he rest in peace.”
Opposite Osasuna also spoke “his deepest condolences”. Club President Luis Sabalza reacted with understanding and explained that his team had no objection to the cancellation: “We understand that life is the most important thing and that you cannot play a game if you think that the person with whom you have lived for so long is no longer there.”
On Tuesday (6.45 p.m./DAZN), Barcelona is the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Benfica Lisbon (first leg 1-0).
