Bitter end for German ski hope

Emma Aicher missed the second round after a fall

Emma Aicher is leaving the slalom in ARE in the first round. The 21-year-old misses a good result.

There would have been more for Emma Aicher. The German ski hope was already unhappy in the first round at the slalom in Are.

Particularly bitter: Aicher was actually on course to drive a very good time before she lost control of her ski shortly before the finish. The 21-year-old was even 13 hundredths faster than the leading Mikaela Shiffrin in the first time. And even after the third in the meantime there was still a real top result.

But then Aicher stumbled and left out. “Oh, that’s bitter. She would have driven loosely into the top ten and now this failure, ”said Eurosport commentator Wolfgang Nadvornik.

The experienced ski commentator had seen a possible departure a few goals before. When Aicher took a goal too tight, he called: “Stay in, Emma.” The 21-year-old succeeded, but only a few goals later followed.

“Interior, a stupid mistake,” she said. Nevertheless, it is “always nice to come back to Sweden,” said the daughter of a Swedish, “even if it didn’t go that weekend”.

Ski Alpin: Aicher susceptible to failures

“There are currently a few failures with her, but she is one that keeps getting up and will come back more and more,” said Nadvornik.

Overall, the 21-year-old was eliminated for the 14th time in this World Cup winter. Aicher had actually done a lot for the World Cup in ARE. The German ski hope grew up in Sweden and knows the route inside and by heart.
