Bank and boos: Hummels sees Rome victory as a spectator

Hummels only sat on the bench

The Corriere Dello Sport reports on the resentment of the Roman fans against Hummels when reading the lineup.

After the latest criticism, Mats Hummels only followed the sixth league success of AS Rome in succession as a spectator. The former soccer team was not used in the 1-0 (0: 0) home win of the Romans on Sunday in Italian series A against Cagliari Calcio. The Corriere Dello Sport also reported on the calls of Roman fans against Hummels when reading the lineup.

The 2014 world champion had initiated the 1-3 defeat of his team with his eleventh minute in the eleventh minute of playing back in the Europa League near Athletic Bilbao on Thursday, and the Italian media did not save afterwards. Nine game days are still on the plan in series A, but according to Tuttosport, Hummels will “experience them on the bench”.

The defender’s roller coaster ride in Rome continues. A few weeks ago, coach Claudio Ranieri emphasized that Hummels was indispensable for him: “He is a monument.” According to media reports, the capital club does not want to extend the 36-year-old’s contract until June 30th.
