A total of 48 players compete at the European Darts Trophy 2025. The top 16 in the world rankings is automatically qualified, as is the best 16 players of the Pro Tour Order of Merit. Thus, the top players like Luke Littler, Luke Humphries or defending champion Michael van Gerwen are represented in Göttingen.

There are also ten winners of a qualification tournament for tour card owners, four national qualifiers, one player from the Nordic & Baltic region and an Eastern European qualifying. Martin Schindler, Ricardo Pietreczko and Niko Springer compete from Germany.
The players set – the top 16 of the Order of Merit – only intervene in the second round on Saturday. For all other participants, the tournament begins with the first round on Friday. On Sunday, eighth, quarter and semi-finals as well as the final will be held.
The last time the European Darts Trophy 2018 took place. Seven years ago, Michael van Gerwen won 8: 3 against James Wade in the final.
The winner waves £ 30,000
Up to and including the quarter-finals, all games in the “Best-of-11-legs” mode are played. In the semifinals it is called “Best-of-13 Legs” and in the final “best-of-15 legs” is played.
The PDC releases a total of £ 175,000 in prize money. The tournament winner gets £ 30,000, while the inferior finalist goes home with £ 12,000.
