In TV interview: fall of German biathlon star unveiled

Justus Strelow is the best German at the sprint in Oslo. After the race it becomes clear that more would have been possible without an unfortunate misfortune.

Unveiling to Justus Strelow after the biathlon sprint on the Holmenkollen: The 28-year-old finished at the World Cup in Oslo as the best German as a good eighth, but had to accept a bitter setback on the final round.

After two flawless deposits, Strelow was in third place after standing shooting. After a fall on the final round, he lacked the podium for 38 seconds. The TV pictures had not captured the mishap.

“I wanted to take a little more swing on the last round shortly before the last long departure. Then the legs were a bit too tired. My ski tips caught a little bit of snow and then it threw me forward. I was lying on my stomach,” said Strelow in the ARD .

The fall was “of course annoying. That cost five to ten seconds. In the end, I may lose a place. Nevertheless, it was a good result.”

In the first two runs, Strelow had only lost a total of 26 seconds to the outstanding racing winner Johannes Thingnes Bö. On the final round he then lost a whopping 47 seconds on Bö – the fall also contributed to it.

For the pursuer on Saturday (from 1.45 p.m. in the live ticker), the race from Strelow still gives hope. The 28-year-old wants to attack fully: “We had really strong material that was fun. I hope that I will collect two Norwegians in the persecution. Maybe we can disturb the party a little.”
