Crystal balls without the last descent: Strong gusts of wind have ensured the cancellation of the final in the Alpine World Ski World Cup in Sun Valley in the US state of Idaho. On Saturday, the World Association FIS “unfortunately” announced the cancellation due to the wind conditions. Before that, the organizers had had to deal with strong snowfalls.

Since the races are not made up for, Marco Odermatt (Switzerland) and Federica Brignone (Italy) are the winners of the small crystal ball for the best descendants of the World Cup season. In any case, both were already the winner of the overall World Cup. The other decisions will be held on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Saturday morning, after strong snowfall, FIS had postponed the men and women’s departures for “persistent work on the route” by several hours, followed by the cancellation later. From a German perspective, the recently very successful Emma Aicher and Kira Weidle-Winkelmann would have been candidates for a podium. Romed Baumann and junior world champion Felix Rösle were on the start list when the men departed.
