In Oslo, for women after the sprint, the Prussia won with a wafer -thin lead, and the drama in the persecution, in which the German lost their overall World Cup, now the ultimate showdown in the mass start on Sunday (1:15 p.m. in the live ticker). The decision must then be made in the last race of the season.

Prussia’s strongest competitor is the French Lou JeanMonnot. Before the showdown, she is only 5 points ahead of the German persecution world champion. How does Preuss get the overall World Cup? Sport1 shows the constellations.

Preuss vs. JeanMonnot: The constellations

… she wins the mass start (then JeanMonnot would have won the second 15 points less and Prussia would be 10 points in front in the final bill) or at least six points than her competitor.

Prussia would also be a second or third parties as long as JeanMonnot crossed her behind her.

It becomes problematic if the German gets just five more points more than her opponent (example: Prussia becomes fourth, JeanMonnot fifth). Because then both athletes would have exactly the same number of points and in the event of an equalization of points the World Cup victory – here the French woman is clearly ahead with 8: 3.

So it remains exciting in any case and it may only be decided in the last shooting of the season.

… she reaches the finish line before Prussia or only ends up behind the German – as long as she catches up with a maximum of five points less than her opponent.

For example, JeanMonnot can be enough for a 5th place if Prussia becomes fourth.

Prussia in the footsteps of biathlon legends Neuner and Dahlmeier

The last German overall World Cup victory was eight years ago. The women around Dahlmeier and Magdalena Neuner were once the dominant nation. Between 2003 and 2012, Martina Beck (then Glagow), Kati Wilhelm, Andrea Henkel and Neuner won six out of ten overall World Cups, three times in a row from 2006 to 2008.

In recent years, the Italians Dorothea Wierer and Lisa Vittozzi have struck three times. For France, Julia Simon 2023 ended a long dry spell since 2005 (Sandrine Bailly).

That makes Preuss hope

For Prussia, in addition to the recent World Cup title in the persecution, the numbers in the mass start.

In this competition, she scored a total of 130 points more than JeanMonnot during the course of the season – the decision will be made in this competition.
