AS ROM: seasonal off after op for world champion Paulo Dybala

World champion Paulo Dyabala is missing the AS Rome Lange

The offensive player was operated on in London on Tuesday. A comeback before the end of August is not to be expected.

For world champion Paulo Dybala (31), the season ended early with the Italian first division club AS Rome. The Argentinian was operated on on Tuesday in London after, on March 16, in the 1-0 home win in Serie A against Cagliari Calcio, he suffered a serious tendon injury in the left thigh.

The team-mate of the Rio world champion Mats Hummels will stay in London for four days and return to Rome at the weekend.

A comeback was not to be expected before the end of August, the sports newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport reported. Dybala also lacks the Argentine national team at the World Cup qualifiers on Wednesday night against Brazil, in Chile (June 4) and against Colombia (June 9).

For the Roma, the failure of the world champion of 2022, which has extended its contract, originally expired in the summer, is a sensitive setback in the fight for international competitions.

Dybala is a regular under coach Claudio Ranieri, contributed six goals and three assists in 24 league games this season. The seventh-placed capital club is currently separating two points from a Conference League place.
