The Giuseppe-Mazza Stadium is to be put into operation in 2031, and in 2035 it should be completely finished.
The plans for the new San Siro construction are becoming more and more concrete. As can be seen from published documents of the local authorities, the construction work in Milan is to be recorded in “The second half of 2025”. Accordingly, the completion is planned for 2035, and the stadium is to be taken into operation in 2031. The costs are estimated at 1.2 billion euros.
Inter and AC Milan had given an offer of 197 million euros for the purchase of the aging Giuseppe-Mazza Stadium and an adjacent parking space that currently still belong to the city of Milan. According to the plans of the clubs, the new building with 71,000 seats is to be built there, and local and shops are also to be integrated in order to increase the income.
The Milan city administration has now published a tender “to check whether there may be better offers than that of Inter Milan and the AC Milan.” Most recently, the city of Milan had rejected the plans for a demolition by the Giuseppe-Mazza stadium, which opened in 1926, due to the “cultural interest”. The opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics will take place in the arena for the 100th birthday in the coming year.
