Hannawald “Superstolz” on Preuss

Franziska Preuss wins the overall biathlon World Cup after a heartbeat final. Ski jumping legend Sven Hannawald praises Prussia after victory and draws a critical comparison to ski jumping.

Franziska Preuss crowned an outstanding biathlon season and secured the overall World Cup victory. The 31 -year -old won on Sunday after a heartbeat final – also because competitor Lou JeanMonnot fell shortly before the finish.

The German ski jumping icon Sven Hannawald highly calculated that Preuss comforted her competitor immediately after the finish line: “In the end, you saw at the finish line how nice it was that she was also over the French, who was of course super disappointed. Such moments are also part of it in sports to be able to celebrate such a great success for Germany,” said Hannawald in exclusive Sport1 interview.

Hannawald: “Should also be an example for us”

The 50-year-old had followed the last season race of the biathletes on the tray. “It was really super -exciting because both were in close contact towards the goal. Of course it was a bit of a shame that the French woman fell.”

Hannawald praised Preuss’ Sportsgeist – whom he recently missed ski jumping in “his” sport. The scandal about the manipulated ski jumps of the Norwegian team kept the sports world in suspense.

“Strangely, things like that follow each other right away. At the biathlon, one athlete and then we fell comfortably from her rival at the finish. That should also be an example for us,” says Hannawald.

“It is actually often the case. But unfortunately we keep going that in the end the nations insult each other and that everything brings us apart just because it is not clear.”
