The previous assistant coach Lars Masell will temporarily take over the chief position until the end of the season.

After more than ten years at a short break, coach John Patrick leaves the MHP huge Ludwigsburg from the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL). According to clubs, the separation takes place in mutual agreement, temporarily the previous assistant coach Lars Masell will take over the chief position until the end of the season.

“Detached from the last few days it is a personal concern to thank John Patrick for many good and successful years of collaboration. He has significantly determined an era of the Ludwigsburg basketball. Even if you eventually separate in life, the memory of a special, time together is permanently preserved,” said Alexander Reil, chairman of the giants.

Patrick, a native of Americans with a German passport, had taken over Ludwigsburg for the first time in 2013, in the summer of 2022 the 57-year-old moved to Japan to the Chiba Jets Funabashi. Patrick returned to the MHP Giant before the current season, and now the contract was terminated on June 30th.

The decision was made “with the aim of a new sporting orientation and the long -term merit”, it was said in the Bundesliga club. The MHP giants are only more tenth and have to worry about participation in the play-offs.

The team had recently collected five defeats in series, including the BBL with promoted Skyliners Frankfurt.
