Loic Meillard fends off the attack by Ski König Marco Odermatt in Sun Valley and triumphs in the giant slalom.
The Swiss Loic Meillard prevented Ski König Marco Odermatt’s attack at the season finale in Sun Valley and won the giant slalom superior. The slalom world champion finished 0.95 seconds ahead of his compatriot Odermatt dominated this winter, who worked in second place in the second run in second place.
Lucas Pinheiro Braathen again missed the chance to give Brazil the first World Cup victory. The 24-year-old, after a second round, became fourth behind Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen (+1.14) (+1.33). Born in Norweg, Braathen has started for the South American country since this season and made it onto the podium six times.
The only German starter Anton Grammel, qualified as 24th of the giant slalom world cup for the final in the US state of Idaho, drove to the top 10. The 26-year-old from Kressbronn became tenth and equalized his best career result so far. Most recently, Grammel had also finished tenth in Hafjell/Norway.
Odermatt, winner of the overall World Cup as well as the departure, giant slalom and super-G classification, drove the second best time in the second round and secured another podium. It was his last effort this season.
On Thursday, the slalom races of the men (16.00/7pm) and women (5 p.m./20.00/each Eurosport and Sportschau.de) take place in Sun Valley.
