The former Bundesliga professional Jean-Philippe Mateta was hit badly on the head in early March.
Jean-Philippe Mateta from the English first-class football team Crystal Palace is just four weeks after the bad kick against his head before returning.
The former Bundesliga professional, which was brutally fouled by the opposing goalkeeper Liam Roberts in the FA Cup round of 16 at the beginning of March, was “ready” for the quarterfinals on Saturday (1:15 p.m.) at FC Fulham.
25 stitches after horror step
After a failed rescue operation, Roberts had hit the head with the tunnels on the head, whereupon the striker had to be sewn with 25 stitches on the left ear. The Millwall keeper was subsequently closed to six games, Mateta wants to run with a protective mask.
“I told him that he should maybe try water polo because he is big enough,” said Glasner based on the new look of his striker: “It looks a bit strange, but he says that he feels comfortable. Let’s see when he achieved a header goal, then it was the right mask and the right protection.”
Mateta had protected Roberts after the horror step. “I don’t think Liam woke up in the morning and has planned to give me such a wound,” said the former Mainz to the English broadcaster Sky Sports : “We are all under pressure and he just wanted to do his best, but too many emotions make you crazy things. It was just a mistake, you learn from it.” Roberts had already “contacted the hospital and apologized”.
