After a change of coach: Ludwigsburg stops down

Giant coach Lars Masell

The Swabians in Vechta win the debut of the previous assistant coach Lars Masell.

After the coaching change, the MHP giant Ludwigsburg stopped the negative trend in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL). In the debut of the previous assistant coach Lars Masell, who had replaced John Patrick on Wednesday, the Swabians won 70:64 (26:46) on Friday evening thanks to a strong second half at Rasta Vechta.

With the victory, the giants consolidated with a 12:12 record in the table, which would be enough to qualify for the play-ins. Vechta (14:11) remains sixth.

Ludwigsburg had previously collected five defeats in succession across competitions, three in the BBL. Johannes Patrick, son of the former trainer, was missing in Vechta after an elbow surgery. The 23-year-old has to pause for an indefinite period. The giants and John Patrick had agreed on a separation on both sides.

The best thrower at Vechta, which had announced the contract extension with captain Joschka further by another year until 2026, was Brandon Randolph (14 points). For Ludwigsburg, 21 points in the back and 33 seconds before the end for the first time, Joel Scott came up to 16 points as the best thrower.
