Southampton’s record descent has consequences

The FC Southampton, which has already been relegated from the League premiere, dismisses coach Ivan Juric. It is not a new experience for the Croatian.

FC Southampton separated from the Premier League from TeamManager Ivan Juric after his record descent. The 49 -year -old Croatian had only taken over the office in December, but could not prevent the earliest descent in the league history seven games before the end of the season. Simon Rusk follows him as an interim coach.

For Juric it is already the second discharge this season: after around two months in office in November he had already flown to the AS Rome of Mats Hummels. Southampton, team of the two-time German national player Armel Bella-Kotchap, lost seven of his last eight games and 22 points behind the saving bank.

Defeat against Spurs seals historical descent

The inglorious record for the Saints was sealed after the 1: 3 on Sunday afternoon at Tottenham Hotspur. Derby County and Huddersfield Town were “only” as relegated in 2008 and 2019 “only” six game days before the end of the season.

Southampton threatens another negative record: Derby ended the 2007/08 season with eleven points, so far the worst yield-Southampton, who was the winner of the Play-Off final of the Championship last year, is at ten.
