ALVES case: Possible sacrifice is appealing

The case of the former football star Dani Alves will continue to employ the Spanish judiciary. According to the public prosecutor’s office of Catalonia, the alleged sacrifice also announced an appeal against the judgment of a Court of Appeal in Barcelona on Monday.

At the end of March, the court had lifted a four and a half year imprisonment for the 41 -year -old Brazilian for rape.

Alves was found guilty in February 2024 of raping a young woman in a night club in Barcelona in December 2022. However, the Court of Appeal decided that the original judgment was shaped by “a number of defects, inaccuracies, inconsistencies and contradictions” and therefore not to be kept.

Alves, who had been released against a deposit of one million euros during the appeal hearing, had won the Champions League three times with FC Barcelona in his career. Representatives of the Spanish government and women’s rights organizations had protested against his acquittal.
