Newcastle professional Fabian Schär misses a miracle gate by a few centimeters. The Swiss’s ball claps to the crossbar from a huge distance.
Newcastle professional Fabian Schär has missed a miracle gate around hair width. In the league game at Leicester City, the Swiss conquered a ball in midfield, immediately took his head up and slammed the ball behind the center line – from over 50 meters – towards the goal of the home team.
The ball was in the air for about four seconds, flew over Leicester keeper Mads Hermansen before it slamming on the crossbar. From there she jumped back into the penalty area, where the Jacob Murphy, who was running, lurked.
The 30-year-old accepted the ball with his right foot, but was initially unable to control it properly, so that keeper Hermansen almost came in between. But Murphy scored just in time with the right outside of the left corner for the 2-0 lead for Newcastle (11th). The Englishman had already scored 1-0 (2nd).
Harvey Barnes put on 3-0 in half one (34th).
Schär had played for TSG Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga between 2015 and 2017.
