BBL: Vechta trainer changes to college

BBL club has to search for new trainers

Martin Schiller follows an old acquaintance and moves into the second member. Rasta has to look for a new coach again.

Basketball Bundesliga club Rasta Vechta has to look for a new head coach in summer. As the BBL table was given, Martin Schiller changes to the renowned US college league NCAA to the University of Utah after the end of the season. The 43-year-old Austrian follows the reputation of his former colleague Alex Jensen, the new head coach of the “Runnin ‘Uts” and becomes his assistant. One was “already in conversations” with candidates for the successor, said Rasta Vechta.

“When we brought Martin to Vechta, we naturally had a long cooperation,” said club boss Stefan Niemeyer: “The fact that Martin came to us with the request to switch to the NCAA is a shame on the one hand. On the other hand, it is also a further proof that Rasta is very well worked and our further developing staff arouses desires.”

Schiller came to Vechta last summer as the successor to Ty Harrelson, who was changed to Ratiopharm Ulm. With eight outstanding games in the regular season, the club has a good chance of reaching the play-offs in the BBL.
