MVP: Jokic, Gilgeous-Alexander and Antetocounmpo nominated

It is the fourth year in a row in which the three MVP finalists were born outside of the United States.

Nikola Jokic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Giannis Antetocounmpo are the finalists for the award for the most valuable player in the NBA season. This was announced by the North American professional league on Monday night.

Jokic (Denver Nuggets) and Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City Thunder) go into the race as favorites compared to the Greek star Antetocounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks).

Jokic, who was awarded MVP for the third time in four years last season, could be honored for the fourth time, like LeBron James and Wilt Chamberlain. Kareem Abdul Jabbar, which was appointed MVP six times, holds the record. The Serb Jokic has had another remarkable season, on average he achieved a triple double from 29.6 points, 12.7 rebounds and 10.2 assists per game.

Gilgeous-Alexander met almost 52 percent of the litters. With Oklahoma City, the Canadian won 68 games and set up a league record with the scout yield. Last season he finished second behind Jokic. Antetocounmpo, who won in 2019 and 2020, scored an average of 30.4 points and 11.9 rebounds per game for the Bucks.

It is the fourth year in a row in which the three MVP finalists were born outside of the United States. The last player born in the USA who won was James Harden in 2018. The NBA will announce the winners of the seven most important awards of the regular season in the coming weeks, these will be elected by basketball journalists and television channels.
