Argentine goalkeeper legend Gatti died

Known as “El Loco” Gatti is still a record player of the first Argentine league. Now he died at the age of 80.

Argentine football mourns the loss of his legendary goalkeeper Hugo Gatti. As the South American football association announced, the former international died on Sunday at the age of 80. Gatti, who wore the nickname “El Loco”, who was crazy, is still a record player of the first Argentine league with 765 missions.

He played most of his games for the traditional Boca Juniors club. With the association from Buenos Aires, for which he ran from 1976 to 1988, he won the Copa Libertadores, the counterpart to the European Champions League. At his end of his career he was 44 years old.

For the national team, Gatti, who was known as an extroverted type, took part in the 1966 World Cup in England, but was not used. At the 1978 World Cup, which Argentina won in his own country, he was the first goalkeeper, but a knee injury prevented his participation.
