The French biathlon talent Coralie Langel had surprisingly declared to start Switzerland in the future at the end of March. Now the 23 -year -old explains how it came about – and is disappointed.
At the end of March, the Langel Coralie previously started for France decided to want to compete for Switzerland in the future. Now the 23-year-old explained this step, which she claimed to have thought about for a long time, as she revealed in an interview with Nordic Magazine .
“In January, after I won two weekends in a row (at the Coupe de France; editor’s note ) in PrĂ©manon and Les Contamines-Montjoie, I was not selected for the IBU Cup. I was a bit sad,” said Langel and called the decisions of the French association “less and less understandable”.
“Don’t be at war with France at all”
The young biathlete “is not at all about war with France, I am only disappointed with certain decisions. I feel like this as a athlete, and I am not always objective,” said Langel, who is now looking forward to her new adventure in Switzerland, where she will meet some World Cup stars.
“The A team’s coaches told me that I will train with them, in a mixed group of five men and five women, including big names such as Lena Haecki-Gross and Amy Baserga,” Langel continued. “It will be great to work with them! After that I have to work clever because it was a while ago that I was traveling internationally.”
Langel gives up her “self -experiment”
More precisely, since the 2021/22 season, when she played her last races in the second-class IBU Cup. But a serious illness forced her a break in the following winter – which Langel threw back far in such hard internal competition. The result: The biathlon talent was no longer taken into account for the extended French professional squad.
After these deep blows, Langel decided to try it on his own to organize the training itself and compete in the Coupe de France – where she also celebrated success at the end of last season. However, the promotion to the French international team remained unreachable, which finally caused them to change the association.
