Preuss after victory in the overall World Cup: “Little time for sport”

The biathlete is now going back into training – and is looking forward to the “Highlight” Olympics.

Biathlete Franziska Preuß first took a break after her triumph in the overall World Cup. After numerous appointments in April, she made “two weeks of vacation”, said the 31-year-old at an appointment with her sponsor Alpenhain. It was nice to “treat the body to calm down in the spirit” and “not to talk about biathlon at all”.

At the end of March, Preuss won the overall biathlon World Cup as the sixth German and crowned the best season of her career. Now she wants to get back into training, because: “It has been little time for sport in the past few weeks,” said Preuss. From mid -May at the latest, she will make her rounds regularly again in the stadium.

The next season starts in November, but “from September, October you can actually see me anywhere more than in training,” clarified the winner of the big crystal ball. To prevent diseases, one has to be “very careful” and reduce contacts.

In February 2026 the Olympic Winter Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo are pending, a “highlight” for Preuss. For them, the fourth participation in the biathlon competitions, which will take place in Antholz this time.

The past games in Beijing (2022), Pyeongchang (2018) and Sochi (2014) were “rather a bit off the shot”, said the DSV athlete. Now she is looking forward to experiencing such a big sporting event with sports control, “fans” and “enthusiasm for sports in general”. “This is definitely the motivation to shine again in summer.”
